Air Con Compressor

It provides the energy to cool your car. The compressor pressurises the refrigerant which in turn increases refrigerant temperature turning it into a liquid. The compressor therefore is a vital part of your A/C system and as a consequence can suffer from a number of faults such as a clutch failing, or valves being damaged, lack of oil or too much oil. Any number of issues can occur. So, it's vital before changing the compressor to identify why the current unit has failed, and therefore rectify the cause before fitting a replacement.

Often the cause of your car not cooling is a faulty condenser, otherwise known as the air con radiator. They sit right at the front of the car so are prone to damage, especially from stone chips that can puncture the condenser and cause it to leak, losing refrigerant. The condenser is there to basically change the refrigerant from gas into a liquid, releasing heat. The condenser is the most frequent cause of air con failure so often needs replacing.
